Bear Lake with the Killpack's

McKay and I went with his family to Bear Lake this weekend. This time we stayed in this way charming cottage and did some serious boating.

Getting ready to leave!

This is the view of the front of the cottage we stayed in. It had a wrap around deck with picturesque views.

We were greeted by this friendly bear. Encountering a bear is probably one of my greatest fears. On the way home my father in-law Kim got this book about crazy and freaky bear attacks. He got it so he could be prepared before he went to Alaska. We read them on the way home. I've never heard such gruesome stuff in my life!

We just arrived at the cottage!

McKay and I stayed in the fish themed room! I felt like we were dating in college again due to the twin beds.

This was the tub in the bathroom, I loved it so much. It's the kind of tub I want in my future home, so charming!

McKay being weird and pretending to punch the camera.

Me and Sierra!

Jon, Nick, and McKay being crazy on the tube, they were jumping over each other!

There they go again!

We spent some more time on the beach. We decided to do a sand castle contest, this started out as a castle, and then Ann (my mother in-law) and I created this zen garden.

The boys created what they liked to call "Hell," there were a lot of shells in the sand, so they used those to make their castle of doom. They said that the shells represent skulls and all of the dead people they used to create this place of darkness.

Me, Katie, and Sierra on the water weenie, I was being extra daring.

We made Sierra and Katie into mermaids on the beach. Too bad, Katie on the right looks like an amputee (no fins) mermaid.

Seriously every night we went into town and got raspberry shakes. There were really good, but I'm shaked out for a while.

There was this cozy wagon that was at the shake place, so we thought we wait in it for our shakes.

On the way home we went on a hike to Bloomington Lake, it was so beautiful there. McKay looks so good.

A view from the trail.

This is my sister in-law Emily and her cute boyfriend Nick.

Another picture of McKay and I.

In the end the trip was a blast. Probably the most memorable moment was when we were on the boat when the three crazy boys were on the tube. The tube went under the water and I guess from the weight from the three of them and the water the tow/haul bar on the back of the boat ripped off from the back of the boat! Those boys need to lose weight! It was really funny, but kind of a bummer because after that no more water toys! :(

A Craig Weekend

This last weekend, I went home to my family in Centerville. One of my good friends from high school Jessica Rigby is getting married, and I thought I'd throw her a bridal shower. One of my passions in life is planning events and parties. I went all out to plan this cute and fun bridal shower. Out of 10 girls, only two showed up! I was really disappointed. The shower went well. My friend Jessica loves to scrapbook, so every girl brought a picture or two Jessica and them and we made her a little scrapbook of memories from her close friends. We played a game called Love Bingo and my wonderful mother cooked a delicious dinner too. After that we opened gifts and talked! I'm so excited for Jessica because she's marrying her high school sweetheart.

The Bridal Shower Party. Me, Jess, Taylor, and Caitlyn

Later that evening McKay and I took a couple rides on my old moped. When I was younger I had a newspaper route for 5 years! Everyday I would ride that scooter and deliver my newspapers. I have a lot of memories of riding that thing during the summer heat and freezing winter. I remember one time driving that thing around and being pelted by snowballs from the neighborhood boys. I felt so humiliated! They probably did that because they wanted me.

McKay and I rode our bikes down to a local park and we played Tennis! It was really fun because we haven't played for a long time. I love wearing my cute tennis skirt, it's probably my favorite thing about tennis is wearing my skirt.

After coming home from Tennis McKay and I watched two very cute movies, and I was so surprised that McKay even liked them! I recommend renting Penelope and The Jane Austen Book Club. Both were so fun, cute, and I want to buy them!

If you love Jane Austen like I do, you'll love this movie!

We went to church with my parents and my lil sister sang in sacrament. She has an amazing voice, and she sang beautifully. McKay's friends from high school were having a BBQ in Draper, so on our way home we did that. I didn't know anybody except one three other people, I find situations like that not my favorite when no one else will talk to you. Then we came home and played games with our friends the Skousens, Zollingers, and Billings. We had a blast. That was our fantabulous weekend!

Lagoon

Growing up in Centerville, going to Lagoon was never as exciting. It was literally in my backyard. But yesterday McKay, myself, his two brothers, and their girlfriends we went to Lagoon! It was pretty fun. I have to admit that I did work at Lagoon in the Old Time Photo Shop in the Pioneer Village. It was fun to visit Lagoon and not be an employee. I haven't been there for three years! A lot has changed. I got motioned sickness when going on the Tidal Boat Ride and that old rackity White Roller Coaster. But I did love Rattlesnack Rapids and the Cliffhanger.
I didn't like this ride, it was really scary.

Yah! We're waiting in line!

Jon and his girly friend Holly

Hey look we have matching glasses, so retro!

You can't tell what the heck this picture is, so I'll help. This is us going down Rattle Snack Rapids, and were just about to get flooded out of your boat! After it looked like we all had accidents in our pants.

Perverted Phone Call

When it comes to my blog I like to be happy, upbeat, and positive. Working in the Lingerie Department there's always crazy things happening, that's to expect when your working in a department like that. Last night's experience made me realize that we live in an evil, sick, and perverted world. I'm posting this story because that is how I can bring closure and I want you to answer the question as to what would you do in this situation? How would you have handled it? This is the phone conversation I had last night, I've edited some of the content due to inappropriateness.

(RING RING RING)

Me: "Lingerie, this is Courtney, how can I help you?"
Perverted Man: "Hello, Courtney, how are you doing tonight?"
Me: "Good, how are you doing?"
Perverted Man: "I'm doing ok."
LONG AWKWARD PAUSE
Me: "So how I can help you?"
Perverted Man: "Well, I'm really lonely and I wanted to talk to someone." I could hear noises going on in the background.
Me: "Ok, so what I can do for you?" Asking in an irritated voice because I have 10 things going on!
Perverted Man: "Can you hear that sound in the background?"
Me: Asking in a very irritated voice, "What is that?"
Perverted Man: "Why don't you come over tonight and have e****** with me?"
Me: In a upset and sickened way I said, "I'm not interested!"

After I told him that I was not interested, he hung up the phone. I remember him asking me that infamous question and being so shocked and not knowing what to say. I wish I would have called him a bad name and then hung up. A part of me wished I would have played along so I could have gotten his phone number and address so I could submit it to police. As soon as this phone conversation was over I called the operator to page the Nordstrom Security. I told the operator what happened and she told me that he was trying to have a long conversation with her, so he asked if he could be transferred to the Lingerie Department. After talking to the Nordy Security they told me that this happens a lot to the Nordstrom up in Murray.

This experience was definitely not the highlight of my week. I felt violated, hit on, preyed upon, and I felt sick after. If I wasn't a married woman I think I would have been more scarred. But what a sick freak that would call the lingerie department to get his jollies! That is why there is online porn and those special hot lines to call. After work I felt scared walking to my car alone and even walking to my apartment alone. This is the part that makes me so upset about it is that I was violated at work, I felt uncomfortable, scared, and had my guard up the rest of the night. So what would have you done in that situation?

Goodbye Gardner Village!

Today was my last day at my Gardner Village internship. I worked for 3 1/2 months helping with their marketing, advertising, and public relations. It was kind of sad to leave because I enjoyed working there and I learned so much! My main responsibility was creating and putting together their monthly E-Newsletter. I now have items that I can add to my portfolio. I will in the future visit Gardner Village. I'll be one of those mom's that go shopping with their girly friends and go out to eat, and hang out there. I for sure want a career in an environment like Gardner Village's. To top off the day my mother in-law and sister in-law visited me and took me out to lunch at Archibald's Restaurant.

My major requires you to do two internships and this was my first, hopefully my second will be at this scrapbooking company called in Pleasant Grove. I'll keep you updated as soon as I hear from Close 2 My Heart!
